My Maternal 23rd. Great Scottish Grandmother, Lady Margaret Crawford (Douglas)

 

Hermiston, Midlothian, Scotland

MARGARET, only daughter of the Sir John Crawford, inherited from her father the half of the lands of Crawford Castle, South Lanarkshire, Scotland.
First marriage to Walter Barclay, who got with her these lands, which afterwards became one of the titles of his family.
They left issue a son, DAVID BARCLAY, who we find possessed half of the lands of Crawford, anno 1357.
He was father of, Sir HUGH BARCLAY, designed of Kilbirnie, also dominus dimidiae baroniae de Crawford, anno 1397.
Archibald of Douglas married Margaret, daughter of Sir John Crawford of Crawford
and had issue: William Douglas (1220–1274) of Hermiston and Andrew Douglas of Hermiston (1225-1277), progenitor of the Lords of Dalkeith & Earls of Morton and Lords of Mains.
